Looking Forward

It's taken a little while to get going this year but I'm finally back into the swing of things. 2020 is shaping up to be a busy time and I'm excited to share what I'm up to with you all. As well as my own work, I've some new projects aimed at giving writers time, space and encouragement to write. Here's hoping this year is filled with words for all of us.

Hexham Book Festival Commission

I'm thrilled to have won my first paid writing commission with Hexham Book Festival. I'll be creating a new piece of work and mentoring two as yet unpublished writers. We'll present our work at the festival, which takes place this year from the 24th April to 3rd May. I can't wait to share it with everyone....now to get writing!

Forum Books Writers Group

The First Tuesday Writers group is now open to new writers. We're a friendly group made up of writers of all abilities. Every month we meet in the bookshop to take on a new writing exercise, chat writing and share our work (if we want to). Our first meet of the year is Tuesday 4th February at 7.30 pm. Sessions cost £10 and places can be booked here.

Palp & Heft

My newest venture is a collaborative project with friend and fellow emerging writer Hilary Elder. We're creating friendly, supportive spaces for writers across Northumberland and the North East, and would love to see you. Our first events are now open for booking here.

Submit Your Work

I've spent most of the last week working on submissions for open calls, residencies and competitions. If you're looking for somewhere to send your writing, these calls are all closing soon...your words matter!!
