We Were Always
We were always just balanced
A breath away from the fall
Ever accelerating toward the end
But now we have our feet held to the fire
We are no more than a door crack of light from the darkness
Now fiercely aware
Our lives are bound with strangers
Its paper thin substance exposed
And the wind is rising
The fibres are shaking loose
The myth of money and prestige all but washed away
And I see you
So hold tight
We are safe in each other’s arms
Rooted to the earth of each other
To forget, will be to fall
